RD means Registered Dietitian!  To obtain this credential, a person must complete a Bachelor's degree in nutrition, which includes coursework in biology, microbiology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, more biochemistry, and nutrition, of course!

After the student graduates from college, he or she must complete a year of supervised practice.  During this time, the aspiring dietitian works under one or several dietitian(s), usually in a hospital.  After the internship is completed, the student can sit for the nationally credentialed RD exam.  The majority of dietitians also have a graduate education.

Considering that highly qualified RDs exist, would you want to put your nutrition in the hands of someone who has a certification obtained in a matter of weeks?  If you seek out the advice of an RD, you know the individual has at least four years of nutrition-related education and one year of experience!

Jean's specialties are in the area of sports, weight loss, and physique contest diet preparation.  She also has experience as a cooking instructor and corporate wellness lecturer.  Jean is currently in Waco, Texas working on a PhD in Exercise Nutrition, but also offers individual diet coaching or public speaking services.
